Wow, we just discovered a fabulous wedding cake designer in our own backyard! Her name is Erica O’Brien and her designs are fresh and fun! We love the bright colors and think that a crystal monogram cake topper would be gorgeous on her cakes!
Of course, her unique wedding cakes have been featured in top bridal magazines, but she also offers classes for bakers looking to expand their skills and learn about the basics of cake decorating. Traditional Fruit Cake Chosen for Royal Wedding Photo: Fiona Cairns
Princes, princesses and royal weddings. Sounds like a fairy tale, but one of the most anticipated events is less than a month away. While we don’t know what designer gown Kate Middleton will wear, sources say the creator of the royal wedding cake is Fiona Cairns Ltd. The multi-tiered traditional fruit cake will be decorated with cream and white icing, and a British floral theme using the Joseph Lambeth technique. Fiona Cairns began baking miniature cakes at her home in 1985 before opening a bakery now based in Leicestershire. She is known for quality ingredients and luxurious cakes. The McVitie’s Cake Company also confirmed that it will make a chocolate biscuit cake for the royal wedding reception. McVitie’s – now part of the United Biscuits Group – has made many of the cakes for weddings and christening of member of the royal family since the marriage of His Majesty King George V to HM Queen Mary. They also made the official anniversary cake for The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s 60th wedding anniversary in 2007, according to a press release. Just love the idea of honoring family tradition!
