Celebrity couple Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo, who announced their engagement late last year, discuss wedding planning in a recent article on People.com.

Although they haven’t decided on a wedding date, Vanessa Minnillo has her eyes set on a winter wedding at The Ritz:  ”[I saw] a wedding booklet about the Ritz-Carlton weddings that they do and it was a winter theme and it was beautiful. Something about winter, it’s one of my favorite seasons, it’s very romantic. The twinkle lights and the greenery and the snow.”

Budget brides can always use celebrity weddings as a source of inspiration when they’re planning their ceremony and reception. Bridal magazines and Weddings by The Ritz-Carlton stay abreast of current wedding trends and top honeymoon destinations. So while not every bride-to-be can afford the designer bridal gown, the couture wedding shoes or the 5-star venue, she can create an atmosphere and mood that reflects the look of luxury. Advantage Bridal offers couture bridal jewelry, designer wedding shoes, unique veils and tiaras, custom wedding accessories and everything inbetween for the Ritz-Carlton wedding.

Look Like a Bride on Your Wedding Day

Erika Koesler Chantilly Lace Veil

A veil conveys the image of a bride. The very word – veil – stirs images of weddings, brides and “Prince Charming.”

Perhaps because it was engrained in us as children in fairy tales or because we remember wedding photos of our mothers and grandmothers wearing the sheer head garment.

Wedding veils have historic and religious roots, but modern brides embrace the tradition, too – although it’s likely a fashion choice rather than a symbolic one.

Sheer fabric and lace would adorn a bride’s head – often with accessories such as flowers, jewels and wreaths – to shield her from her bridegroom.  He would unveil her face after the vows.

Interestingly, more emphasis was placed on bridal accessories than the wedding dress in past times. And depending on the country and era, veils weren’t always white. (Advantage Bridal carries some veils in different colors.)

The bridal veil is believed to have originated in ancient Greece or Rome. Though it became a symbol of modesty and purity, veils were also worn to ward off spirits and for good luck.

Today, brides wear veils for various reasons and they continue to be an important accessory to the ensemble. Regardless of what type of bride you are – modern, classic, vintage, romantic, simple – there certainly is a veil out there for you.

There are many types of veils, which vary by length and can be embellished with lace, beads, embroidery, satin, ribbon, rhinestones, sequins or other decorations.

You can go dramatic with a cathedral length veil or retro with a birdcage veil. Your options are endless. Remember, most pictures will be taken from the waist up, and you want to look like a bride on your wedding day. (Click on the picture for more information about each item.)

New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries proposed to the famous Kardashian at her Beverly Hills home on May 18. He popped the question by laying rose petals on her bedroom floor that read, “Will you marry me?” The two have been dating for six months and the Kardashian clan, including sisters Khloe and Kourtney and mom Kris Jenner, are announcing their excitement via Twitter. Read Kim’s lovey-dovey Tweets to her new fiancé.

Kate Middleton Glows in Reception Gown

Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, wore not one, but two, bridal gowns by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Even if you weren’t a fan of the wedding dress she wore to marry Prince William, Kate Middleton’s reception gown was stunning. Simple and elegant! The princess bride was beaming as she headed to the evening reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Alexander McQueen strapless reception gown features white satin gazar with silver diamante embroidery at the waist and a circle skirt, creating a similar silhouette to her wedding gown. Kate Middleton paired it with a cropped angora sweater for added texture and sophistication. Her loosely curled locks framed her face. Amazingly, the newest royal decided to do her own bridal make-up for the big day after taking lessons from an expert :) Wish we could all be that brave! Even if we can’t afford two bridal gowns, we can dream can’t we? Love the idea of wearing an elegant wedding dress with a long train followed by a lovely reception gown to party the night away.

Advantage Bridal carries the perfect bridal accessories to complete your look, whether it’s regal, simple, classic or flirty. If you want to be a princess bride, bridal accessories such as veils and tiaras are essential in creating this look.

Fanciful Feather Fascinators For Today’s Brides

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Erica Koesler Diamond White Feather Hair Clip

Fanciful feather fascinators bring a touch of whimsy and carefree style for modern brides. They add the perfect amount of sophistication without being too stuffy. Feather fascinators – also called feather hair clips, feather hair combs or feather headpieces – look beautiful on loose locks and updos for brides, bridesmaids and flower girls. Adding an airy dimension to the bridal attire, feather fascinators showcase the facial features and accentuate the bridal hairstyle. They can be paired with veils to combine the old with the new – birdcage veils with a feather fascinator combine for a fabulous look.

Remember Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie “Sex and the City?” Before Mr. Big ditches the wedding, Carrie Bradshaw makes a stunning appearance with a veil and vintage feather headpiece, which is actually a bird. For the bride wearing a traditional veil and ensemble, consider pairing feather fascinators with the bridesmaids dresses for contrast. Like veils, feather fascinators come in various sizes, colors, textures and ornaments. The airy ostrich feathers move with each passing breeze, while others have a more flirty feel. Feather fascinators can be small and simple or large and ornate for a statement bridal headpiece.

Future British royal Kate Middleton has made feather fascinators and feather embellished hats a fashion accessory for special events. She represents today’s bride and shows that feathers never go out of style. Brides should consult with their hairstylist to ensure the feather fascinator works with the bridal hairstyle.
