Prince William Escorts Kate Middleton in RAF Uniform
Royal watchers continue to speculate about what type of wedding gown future princess Kate Middleton will wear on her wedding day, but what about the dapper Prince William? Following in the footsteps of his father, Prince Charles, and other royal predecessors, the future king of the United Kingdom will wed in military uniform. But which one?
Prince William’s military career began at Sandhurst Military Academy, and he retains commissions in all of the Armed Forces in which he will one day head. He is currently a helicopter pilot with the RAF Search and Rescue Force. Prince William’s military attire includes uniforms for the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Household Calvary. Royal commentator Marilyn Braun provides details on his military dress options. Most speculators believe he will wear an RAF uniform tailored by Savile Row tailors Gieves & Hawkes.
We know his dress will complement Kate Middleton’s bridal ensemble perfectly and will be formally accessorized for the wedding of the 21st Century – perhaps wearing a hat and gloves like his father did when he married Princess Diana.
For brides and grooms serving in the military, Advantage Bridal offers military wedding accessories, garters, camo tanks, apparel, cake toppers and more to honor your heroic efforts.

Following the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William, the two will be escorted in the same carriage Prince Charles and Princess Diana rode on their wedding day in 1981. The historic carriage – called the 1902 State Landau – will carry the Prince and Princess so long as the weather remains fair. But if poor weather prevails, Kate Middleton and Prince William will be transported in the Glass Coach, which was built in 1881. Lady Diana Spencer arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral in the Glass Coach, but Kate will arrive at the Westminster Abbey via Rolls Royce.
Horses, carriages, limos and Rolls Royce luxury automobiles are the transportation of choice for members of the royal family and guests to the wedding of the decade on April 29, 2011. The Head Royal Coachman Mark Hargreaves will carry Her Majesty the Queen.
According to the British Monarchy: Most Royal marriages are solemnised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, with carriage processions taking the royal couple and members of the royal family to and from the marriage venue. During the ceremony, the royal family traditionally sits on the right-hand side of the church. Westminster Abbey became a popular venue for royal weddings when Princess Patricia of Connaught chose it for her marriage to the Honourable Alexander Ramsay in 1919. It was the first time for 650 years that the Abbey had been used for a royal wedding.

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge grace the cover of Vanity Fair's July issue. Photo by Mario Testino
Catherine Middleton – aka the Duchess of Cambridge – became a fashion icon in her gorgeous bridal gown designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. The gown and other items are on display at Buckingham Palace from July 23 to October 3, 2011.
If you’re planning a vacation in London and want to see the royal wedding dress, bridal accessories and even the wedding cake, you can tour the Queen’s palace this summer to see the craftsmanship that went into making the dress for the Duchess of Cambridge.
The royal wedding display includes the veil appliquéd with lace rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs; the Queen’s 1936 Cartier tiara; and the satin and lace shoes also made by the team at Alexander McQueen and hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.
The Duchess’ diamond oak leaf and acorn earrings will be displayed with her bridal ensemble. The earrings incorporated the Middleton family’s new coat of arms and were a wedding gift from Kate’s parents.
They didn’t forget about the royal wedding cake – a tiered fruit cake decorated with sugar flowers created by Fiona Cairns – which will be shown in the palace’s state dining room.
If you’re a fan of the royal family or want to admire the royal wedding accessories in person, then this summer is your chance. Images and videos fail to capture the intricate details of the gown, tiara, jewelry and shoes.
You can always shop Advantage Bridal to plan your own royal wedding affair – complete with rhinestone jewelry, custom accessories, couture wedding shoes, favors and much more! We’re the one stop shop for brides and weddings.

Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, wore not one, but two, bridal gowns by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. Even if you weren’t a fan of the wedding dress she wore to marry Prince William, Kate Middleton’s reception gown was stunning. Simple and elegant! The princess bride was beaming as she headed to the evening reception at Buckingham Palace.
The Alexander McQueen strapless reception gown features white satin gazar with silver diamante embroidery at the waist and a circle skirt, creating a similar silhouette to her wedding gown. Kate Middleton paired it with a cropped angora sweater for added texture and sophistication. Her loosely curled locks framed her face. Amazingly, the newest royal decided to do her own bridal make-up for the big day after taking lessons from an expert
Wish we could all be that brave! Even if we can’t afford two bridal gowns, we can dream can’t we? Love the idea of wearing an elegant wedding dress with a long train followed by a lovely reception gown to party the night away.
Advantage Bridal carries the perfect bridal accessories to complete your look, whether it’s regal, simple, classic or flirty. If you want to be a princess bride, bridal accessories such as veils and tiaras are essential in creating this look.

1936 Cartier Halo Tiara
Thank you, Duchess of Cambridge, for showing how a tiara can transform a bride into a modern royal. Royal bride Catherine Middleton wore a sparkling “halo” tiara as she revealed her bridal ensemble to the world on April 29. Who could keep their eyes off the gorgeous, ornate 1936 Cartier tiara? We couldn’t!
The Queen graciously allowed Prince William’s bride to wear the diamond encrusted tiara, which was purchased by The Duke of York (later King George VI) for his Duchess (later Queen Elizabeth). The tiara was presented to Princess Elizabeth (now The Queen) on her 18th birthday.
Regardless of budget, any bride-to-be can caputure the look of regal elegance on her wedding day, whether it be a rhinestone tiara or pearl tiara. Pair it with a veil for instant glamour. Advantage Bridal carries tiaras for all occasions, such as a wedding, sweet 16 party, Quinceañera or beauty pageant. Our selection of wedding tiaras include stately pieces, as well as understated styles, for brides and flower girls. From head to toe, walk down the aisle looking like a princess bride.

Maid of Honor Pippa Middleton
Everyone is dying to know who will design Catherine Middleton’s bridal gown and all the juicy wedding details, like who’s in the wedding party. It’s no surprise that Prince William and Kate Middleton have chosen their siblings to be the best man and maid of honor – Prince Harry, 26, and Pippa Middleton, 27 (short for Philippa).
Prince Henry Charles Albert David, or Prince Harry, began his military career in 2005. Today, he continues those endeavors training as a helicopter pilot with the Army Air Corps. Like his mother Princess Diana, the young prince is also patron to numerous charities whose work he supports and joint founder and patron of Sentebale, which helps children orphaned by AIDS in Southern Africa. He will serve as the best man with Chelsy Davy as his possible date. (Check out Advantage Bridal’s military wedding accessories.)
Pippa Middleton, Kate’s younger sister, best friend and maid of honor, bears a striking resemblance to the future British princess. She is currently hailed Britain’s most eligible bachelorette (Who needs the TV show when you’ve got single socialites!) Little is known about the equally beautiful sister other than the pictures that show up in the British tabloids. Pippa is said to be smart, funny and outgoing. She may also become the lady-in-waiting for her sister Kate (we’ll explore this more next time). Prince William’s friend, Alex Loudon, could be her date to the royal wedding. (For the royal bride, shop the tiaras at Advantage Bridal.)
We’ll just have to wait and see what unfolds when the wedding of the century airs. We’re counting the days until the royal wedding! The two younger siblings would make a cute couple themselves, don’t you think?

Commemorative Stamps Feature Prince William & Catherine Middleton's Engagement Photos
Prince William forgoes both royal tradition and wedding tradition with his decision not to wear a ring, but his bride-to-be will wear a gold Welsh ring that continues long-standing royal family tradition dating back nearly 90 years. As one of the most recognized princes in modern times, there won’t be any doubt that Prince William is taken – but even his father wears a wedding band under his larger signet ring. A source tells AP that it’s a matter of personal preferance as Prince William doesn’t wear jewelry; he has Kate’s blessing on his decision not to wear a ring.
“Welsh gold, prized for its quality and scarcity, had been used in royal weddings since 1923 and has been worn by Queen Elizabeth II, and the late Princess Diana. Traditionally gold from a nugget from the Clogau Gold mine was used, but the mine has been closed and only a sliver remains. However, the British Royal Legion gave the queen a small quantity of Welsh gold in the 1980s for incorporation into wedding rings, and it is possible this may be used, as it was for the 2005 wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla.”
It seems an interesting choice for the couple who will exchange vows that will be broadcast worldwide. And although a ring doesn’t make a marriage, it’s a symbolic reminder of two becoming one. In the end, each wedding is unique and every couple has the liberty to incorporate any tradition they desire. Their decision shows unity as a couple and follows the trend of modern brides and grooms who skip tradition to create the wedding of their dreams, setting aside the opinions and traditions of their families.
Visit The Royal Wedding website for updates and details, such as where to buy commemorative Royal Wedding stamps.
